Call for Papers: Research Society for American Periodicals
    American Literature Association, Long Beach, CA,May 30-June 2, 2002

RSAP solicits proposals for a roundtable panel on "American Periodicals:
Needs and Opportunities for Research and Teaching." Even as print culture
assumes an increasingly privileged position within the discourses of the
academy, the study and analysis of periodicals remains marginalized, with
magazines and journals typically mined for 'content' rather than examined as
sui generis print artefacts. Contributions are sought from scholars and
teachers who work actively with periodicals and periodical culture outlining
and reporting current research agendas and describing future needs and
    opportunities.

Please send a brief (100-250 word) proposal, brief vita, institutional
affiliation (if applicable) and full contact information *by December 30* to
    Leon Jackson <jacksol@gwm.sc.edu>

Further details about the conference can be found at
