For a proposal for the 2002 MLA Convention in New York City, I'm interested
in papers that read works of sociology, broadly defined, as literary texts,
with formal and stylistic properties as well as thematic and contentual
concerns. This includes papers that address works of sociology in
conversation with / illuminated by more traditional literary forms, but
please DON'T send papers that simply employ sociology as a secondary
resource for explicating fiction, poetry, drama.
If you're interested, please send a brief (250 word) abstract and a
one-page vita in the body of an e-mail by February 1, 2002. I'm also happy
to field preliminary questions at this address.
