    CFP: Society for the Study of Narrative Literature, MLA 2002: "Market
    Watch: Cultural Narratives of the Stock Exchange." Reading the stock
    exchange and/as narrative from the seventeenth century to the present,
    including any historical moments and national or trans-national
    contexts. Possible topics include but are not limited to: stock-exchange
    history and stock-exchange texts, revisited (perhaps) in light of
    contemporary issues/events; the role of narrative in the representation
    and/or functioning of the exchange; stock-market characters; readings of
    well-known or lesser-known texts (novels, dramas, how-to-be-a-millionaire
    guides); the financial pages. Narratives of legitimation or illegitimacy;
    investment vs. speculation; stock-exchange genres. Inquiries and abstracts
