    CALL FOR PAPERS: "Performance and gender in the Renaissance" (deadline:
    2/15/02; conference dates: April 5-6, 2002)

    This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at "Disjunctions:
    the center does not hold," the University of California, Riverside's 9th
    Annual Humanities Conference.

    Contributors are invited to submit papers on any aspect of the performance
    of gender in the Renaissance, including (but not limited to) the following
    topics:
    -the performance of gender on the stage
    -female involvement in the court Masque
    -gendered landscapes and architecture
    -the presentation of women in portraits
    -the debate on gender in pamphlets, sermons, etc.

    One page abstracts should be emailed to: disjunctions@hotmail.com by
    February 15, 2002 (text in the body of the message; please no attachments).
    The submissions should be no longer than 250 words. If sending by mail, use
