    CALL FOR PAPERS: "Jane Austin and film" (deadline: 2/15/02; conference
    dates: April 5-6, 2002)

    This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at "Disjunctions:
    the center does not hold," the University of California, Riverside's 9th
    Annual Humanities Conference.

    Contributors are invited to submit papers on any aspect of Jane Austin and
    film, including (but not limited to) the following topics:
    -Modern adaptations of Austin such as Bridget Jones' Diary and Clueless
    -modern representations of Austin's characters
    -the popularity of Austin in film over the past decade or so
    -using cultural studies to understand Austin's novels

    One page abstracts should be emailed to: disjunctions@hotmail.com by
    February 15, 2002 (text in the body of the message; please no attachments).
    The submissions should be no longer than 250 words. If sending by mail, use
