The Tenth Annual Meeting of The Group for Early Modern Cultural Studies
A Celebration of GEMCS' First Decade
Location: Tampa / St. Petersburg, Florida, November 14-17, 2002
In Honor of the Group's Tenth Anniversary the conference theme is
Memory and Ritual
Proposals for papers and panels on the following topics are welcome:
Beginnings and Endings Ceremonies and Rites
Partial Memory and Erasure Cycles and Periods
Birth, Death, Survival Nostalgia, Reunion, Transition
Decline and Fall Repetition and Reinvention
Initiation and Closure Remembering or Memorizing
Rites of Reading Amnesia and and Forgettings
Memory and Performance Theorizing Memory and Ritual
History and historical memory Anniversaries (Donne's, et al.)
Other topics related to our theme or to any aspect of early modern cultural
studies are also welcome.
Presenters should keep papers to ten minutes. Alternate presentation
formats, including round-table discussions, free-form discussions, and
collaborative papers, are encouraged.
Send one-page abstracts or full panels or ideas for panels to the program
organizers at gemcs2002@english.fsu.edu.
Deadline for submissions is April 30, 2002.
