    CFP: Communications Research in Networked Communities (2/11/02;
    NCA, 11/21/02-11/24/02)

Papers sought for a proposed panel on " Communications Research in
Networked Communities " for the 2002 National Communications
Association (NCA) Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana-November
    21-124 2002.

This panel will focus on new or adaptations of research methods for
use in on-line communities including: e-mail, newsgroup, WWW sites,
Web-cam, FTP, chat-room, IRC, MP3 trading, pedagogical applications
of network media, or other on-line forms of interactive communities.
Such communities might be based on: shared professional, ethnic,
geographic, religious, health, self-help, or popular (or
    not-so-popular) cultural and social interests.

Papers might address theoretical, ethical, practical, or case-study
approaches to research in on-line communities. Particular emphasis
should be on how current methods have been or need to be adjusted for
use in on-line environments including but not limited to:
qualitative and quantitative approaches, rhetorical methods,
discourse analysis, ethnography, survey data, web-site tracking, or
    user tracking.

Any other topic related to research in networked communication will
    also be considered.

E-mail paper proposals by 2/11/02 to: Robert Howard at
    rghoward2@facstaff.wisc.edu.
Please include: complete identification (name, affiliation, address,
    phone/fax number and e-mail address of participant), a 50 to 75-word
