    Call for Papers

    Culture and the Condom

Call for papers for a new anthology exploring the historical, social, and
cultural role of the condom in society. Issues such as the condom in art
and popular culture, the discourse of safe sex after the advent of HIV and
AIDS, debates about condom distribution, and international perspectives on
condoms and culture will be addressed. This will be an interdisciplinary
volume, and contributions are especially encouraged from scholars in the
fields of history, queer studies, gender studies, sexology, and
anthropology. The editor is especially receptive to work dealing with
issues of race and ethnicity. Original prose essays (autobiographical, for
example) will also be considered. Some original fiction and artwork may
possibly be included in this anthology.

Please send a 1-page summary of essay and a current CV to
    neuhausj@earthlink.net.

Deadline for receipt of materials is June 30, 2002.
