CALL FOR PAPERS: "Arna Bontemps Centennial" (deadline: 3/31/02;
conference dates: 11/15-17/02)
This call for papers is for an approved special session at the South
Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) annual convention in
Baltimore, MD, at the Wyndham Baltimore Inner Harbor, November 15-17,
2002.
Two-thousand two marks the centennial of Arna Bontemps's birth. This
session will explore the current and future states of Arna Bontemps
studies.
Papers concerning Bontemps studies or any aspect of Bontemps's life and
work are invited, especially those which offer readings of his works
which have not had much attention, such as the Hughes-Bontemps letters.
Papers should be limited to 20 minutes. Proposals or abstracts (150-300
words) should be sent to Joe Alvarez by March 31, 2002:
