Battle during the 17th and 18th centuries, including:

    - the polemical writings of Boileau, Perrault, Chapelain, Mme Dacier,
Houdard de La Motte, Alexander Pope, and other critics
    - translations of Homer
    - the presence of epic heroes in 17th and 18th-century literature,
particularly criticism and parody of Achilles, Hercules, etc.
    - perceptions of the corruption of taste in modern times
    - parodies and "travestissements" of classical works
