    CALL FOR PROPOSALS: "Speaking of Beauty and Truth," is the theme of the
    annual Conference on Christianity and Literature (Mideast Region) to be
    held October 18-19, 2002, at the University of Dayton. Keynote speaker
    will by Denis Donoghue, New York University, author of Adam's Curse:
    Reflections on Religion and Literature, The Practice of Reading, and
    Walter Pater: Lover of Strange Souls. We invite papers or proposals on any
    aspect of literature and its relationship to Christianity, including the
    following: Christian Conceptions of Beauty and Truth; Expressions of the
    Christian Imagination in Literature and Film; Responses to Christianity and
    Literature from outside the Christian tradition (e.g., Islam, Judaism, and
    other faiths); Interdisciplinary approaches; Creative writing in any
    genre; and Memoir, Autobiography, and Spirituality; and Relationships among
    aesthetics, morality, and theology.
