Islam as a literary genre in Subcontinent literature (Pre- &
    Post-Colonial)
The history of the Indian Ocean is particularly fascinating b/c of
the fervent mercantile and literary movements between the Indian
Subcontinent and that of the Middle East. Certainly the rise of the Ottoman
Empire as well as the Moghul Empire impacted literary traditions in the
Indian Subcontinent. Such literary "threads" are evident in medieval as well
as contemporary "Muslim" Subcontinent writings. Papers examining any aspect
(historical; historiographic; literary, genre, religious or social theory)
of Islamic thought or religion on Subcontinent writings are welcome.
