CFP: Bringing Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies into Single-Discipline
    Classrooms (4/22/02, GEMCS, 11/14/02-11/17/02)

I am looking to assemble a pedagogical roundtable/workshop for the 2002
GEMCS Conference (Group for Early Modern Cultural Studies) in Tampa, FL on
    November 14-17.

Rather than organizing a traditional paper session, I am looking to
facilitate a discussion-oriented forum on how we as teachers bring our
interdisciplinary cultural studies interests into our classrooms, especially
in light of the fact that most academics are affiliated with one specific
department and therefore teach (mostly) single-discipline courses. I am
looking for other pedagogy-minded people who might be interested in sharing
their interests/insights/concerns on this topic as part of a roundtable
    discussion.

My own background is literary. (I teach mostly Renaissance lit and drama,
but I also occasionally teach theater classes and will soon teach a film
course.) I would welcome other lit scholars in the roundtable, but I am
also hoping to include people who can speak to the other disciplines that
GEMCS often draws: art, art history, architectural studies, film studies,
history, history of medicine, music, music history, philosophy, religious
studies, history of the sciences, etc.

Please send a short CV and a description of how you might contribute to such
a roundtable by 22 April to Meg Powers Livingston at MPL10@psu.edu (email
    preferred), or mail to:

    Penn State University, Altoona College
    Department of English
    C126 Smith Bldg
    Altoona, PA 16601

Fax (814) 949-5011. Please fax only if absolutely necessary. Faxed
proposals MUST have cover sheet addressed to Meg Powers Livingston and be
    marked “GEMCS session proposal.”
