"Photographing the South"
Popular/American Culture Associations in the South

I am seeking papers for a special session entitled "Photographing the South"
to be proposed for the 2002 joint meeting of the Popular Culture Association
in the South and the American Culture Association in the South.
All scholarly approaches to the topic are welcome, but I am especially
interested in a) presentations that explore representations, themes, and
boundaries of Southernness in the work of a particular photographer or group
of photographers and b) presentations that explore relationships between
photography and other art forms.
Please send 200-word abstracts by May 1, and be sure to include your
institutional affiliation, preferred mailing address, e-mail address, a
title for your presentation, and information about any audio-visual
equipment that you would need. Electronic submission is fine:
