Update: Specification of Genres for Mantis Issue

Update: Mantis: Poetry and Performance (6/18/02; journal)

For Mantis 3, under the broad theme of "Poetry and Performance," we
are now looking for previously unpublished essays on Popular Song,
Folk Song, or other music genres that may fall under the rubric of
our theme.

We are also looking for previously unpublished essays on "Cinepoetry"
or Film and Poetry.

Mantis is a journal of contemporary poetry, poetry translation and poetry
criticism. A forum for writers coming from a broad spectrum of intellectual
and aesthetic positions, Mantis is dedicated to publishing new work that
interrogates the relationships among critical writing, creative writing, and
translation.

Mantis is edited by a collective of poets, translators, and scholars at
Stanford University. The journal appears in numbered issues, each focused
on a particular theme. Mantis 1: Poetry and Community_ debuted in December
2000. Mantis 2: Poetry and Translation appeared in January 2002.
