It's that time again: presentations for Travel and Tourism for the Popular
Culture conference in New Orleans, April 16-19, 2003. (Remember to join
or renew your membership/subscription so you can present.)
Travel & Tourism, like Popular Culture as a whole, is open -- creative! --
as to what you present and how you present it: travel lit; the politics of
commerce "vs." aesthetics; the philosophy of isolation (or islands!);
practical issues: how does a heavy-duty vacation area deal with
development, for example. Formats can be presentations of papers, kept to
20 minutes, so there's time for talk after, and not read but '"talked,"
informally (but pointedly 'cause of that 20 minutes!) -- or you might
present a film, with time for response; or propose a forum or panel
discussion ....
Please send a brief descriptions of what you want to do by September 4 to
me at <Carolwill@aol.com>; please include your title and your name,
address info., as you wish it to be sent in for the program -- include
e-mail address, please.
