The Canterbury Tales Project invites proposals for its session at the 38th International Medieval Congress, Kalamazoo 2003.
"Electronic Editions: The Evolution of the Text?"
Electronic books have radically changed the way texts are presented and fundamentally changed basic notions of classic editing. New technologies allow editors and readers to experience books in completely different ways, but they also create new challenges and problems.
This session will focus on all aspects of electronic editing, with especial emphasis on matters of the role of the editor, critical editions, the function of electronic archives and the future of electronic editions.
We are interested in hearing of projects that are well on their way or are already complete. Alternatively, scholars who work with electronic texts or have been linked to digital projects are welcome to offer their insights on the uses of the new technologies.
Abstracts of 250 to 300 words may be sent before September 15 to:
