Call for Papers: Marriage and Modernism
2003 NEMLA Convention
Boston, 6-9 March
This session considers the various ways modernist novels represent marriage.
In what ways does the representation of marriage in modernist novels differ
from that in nineteenth century novels? What accounts for these differences?
Can modernism be characterized by a relentless critique of marriage, and if
so, what are the social/historical/literary implications of this critique?
The convention will be held in Boston at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. All
convention participants must be NEMLA members and must be registered for
the convention by 1 December, 2002. Information about the convention,
forms to join or renew your NEMLA membership, and conference
registration information are available at the web site: www.nemla.org.
Deadline for submission of one-page proposals or completed papers is 15
September, 2002
