Call for papers: Deleuze and Feminism (deadline for submissions: November
15, 2002)
theory@buffalo:
An interdisciplinary journal of graduate student writing seeks submissions
for its 2003 issue (#8) on the theme of Deleuze and Feminism.
For decades psychoanalysis has been a working discourse for feminism and
theorizing sexual difference. Early feminist reception of the work of
Deleuze and Guattari, however, has been highly contentious, beginning with
Irigarayıs dismissal: ³You can keep your becoming-woman . . . .² The
relationship between Deleuze and feminism is still in the process of
negotiation. theory@buffalo hopes to provide a forum for this continued
negotiation.
Possible topics might include: feminist receptions of Deleuze, feminist
mutations of Deleuzian concepts (assemblages, bodies without organs,
active/reactive forces, lines of flight), ethics of singularity, ontology
of the event, strategies of alternative futures and politics, virtualities,
language as possibility, monstrosities, teratology, etc.
Sub-missions are welcome from any disciplinary field including social
theory, literary studies, poetics, philosophy, mathematics, medicine, media
studies, etc. Submissions should be 10,000 words maximum. Please send two
blind copies with a cover page, on paper or a disk to the address below.
Or, send an e-version of the paper as an attachment in Microsoft Word to
ai6@acsu.buffalo.edu.
theory@buffalo is also looking for book reviews. Book reviews do not have
to be on the topic of Deleuze and Feminism and should be 1,200 words
maximum. See our web site for detailed submission guidelines:
