The American Handel Society extends a call for papers on any topic
relevant to the study of Handel and his music, especially those that take
an interdisciplinary approach or that deal with problems in performance
practice. The Program Committee is particularly interested in the
following areas: =93Handel, music and sexuality in the 18th century=94 ;
=93Handel and his Contemporaries in Italy=94 (including opera in Venice
and Florence); =93Handel Tradition and Reception=94; and =93Handel=92s
musical world and imperial power=94.

Applicants should submit a proposal of not more than 500 words to: AHS
Program Committee, Professor Wendy Heller, Woolworth Center, Department
of Music, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544. Proposals may also
be sent by electronic mail to: wbheller@princeton,edu

Screeening of proposals will begin on October 1, 2002.
