CALL FOR PAPERS
This academic year’s meeting of WEVSARA, the Shake-speare and
Renaissance Association of West Virginia, will take place on Friday and
Saturday, 4-5 April, 2003, at Davis & Elkins College.
The conference registration fee, payable to Davis & Elkins College, is
$40.00. The Friday evening banquet will be a buffet on campus at
$20.00. After-dinner entertainment will be provided.
The conference invites individual papers or complete panels on any
aspect of the English or European Renaissance, from approximately
1500-1660, in history, literary criticism (especially on Shakespeare,
Milton, Elizabethan or Jacobean drama, and English Renaissance and
seventeenth-century literature in general), art history, philosophy, and
musicology. Presentations related to James I, marking the
quatercentenary of his accession to the throne, are particularly
welcome.
Papers read at the conference are eligible for publication in the 2004
volume of SRASP, the _Shakespeare and Renaissance Association Selected
Papers_, edited by Byron Nelson of West Virginia University.
Professor James Bulman of Allegheny College, author of _The Heroic Idiom
of Shakespearean Tragedy_ and past president of the Shakespeare
Association of America, will deliver the keynote address, “Shakespearean
Comedy and the All-Male Cast.”
