From: Emily P. Wright (ewright@Methodist.edu)
Date: Fri Nov 01 2002 - 11:43:49 EST

The theme of the next Southern Writers Symposium will be "Region."
Proposals for papers and panels should address such topics as the
following:

--regional and local-writing about the South
--literature of various southern subregions
--the South as an American region
--the American South in global perspective

These ideas are meant to be suggestive rather than exhaustive. All
proposals bearing on the concept of region or regionalism in southern
literature will be welcome.

Please submit 250-word abstracts or completed papers by March 15, 2003.
For instructions on submitting panel proposals, please contact the
director.
