PAL 2003 Conference, New Orleans, Louisiana
March 21-22, 2003

Out of this World: Escapism in Literature
(topics in fantasy and science fiction, the retreat from
civilization/technology, utopias, alternatives to modern bourgeois
subjectivity)

The Philological Association of Louisiana (PAL) invites papers to be
presented at the 2003 Conference to be hosted by Dillard University in New
Orleans. Topics of interest include this year’s theme, and also all topics
related to:

Minority voices in literature, art, film, culture
Women's studies, feminism, psychoanalytic theory
Race, class and/or gender studies
Louisiana, Southern, or American literature
British literature
World literature
Creative writing

Please mail (or email) a one-page typed, double-spaced (not to exceed 250
words) abstract to
