The University of Jaén (Spain) is hosting the 14th international
Conference of the Spanish Society for the Study of the English
Renaissance (SEDERI), which will take place between March 20-22 2003 in
Jaén (Spain). This conference presents three modes of participation:
20-minute papers (on the three topics of literary studies, English
language and cultural studies), seminars (pannel discussion on papers
previously circulated among the participants), and plenary sessions
(keynote speakers from the universities of Dundee, Tartu, Lisbon and
Oviedo). Participants should send a 200-word abstract for papers
(deadline: Jan 31), and a 1,500 word-abstract for seminars (deadline:
Feb 14). Seminar topics are: 'The 'Outsider' in the English Drama of the
XVth and XVIth Centuries' and 'European Contribution in the Making of
the English Renaissance'. The conference also includes cultural events
such as guided visits to Renaissance and Medieval cities, and
Renaissance music concerts. There is also a conference dinner at the
