The New Korean Association of English Language and Literature is planning to
hold its 1st international conference in May, 2003, in Pusan National
University, South Korea. We invite submission of papers to be presented at
the conference.
As the conference title, Cyber, Virtual & Bio Literature, suggests, the key
concern of the conference is to envisage the present and the immediate
future of Cyber, Virtual & Bio literature (Worlds). Our aim here is to
provide a site where new ideas ,new knowkedge, and new theories are
projected, tested, and created. We welcome any topic exploring literature¡¯s
creative,and integral, relationship to cybernetics, virtual reality, and
biology, but preference will be given to papers specifically addressing(at
least one of) the following themes:

1.Emergence of Posthuman and Its ontology: various ways of shaping and
defining posthuman, as reflected in literary texts, cultural constructions,
philosophical perspectives, scientific experiments ,and historical tradition
of East and/or West;
2. Continuity, Transformation, and Prediction: reflections on current trends
and causes in the Cyber, Virtual & Bio literary studies, creative recasting
of existing paradigms of thinking, and the projection of the future of the
Cyber,;Virtual & Bio literature,
3. Nature, Environment, Ecology, Bio-technologies and Nanobio-tehnologies:
various modes of interactive relationship between humans/posthuman and
ecosystem; the impact, both positive and negative, of scientific
developments on human lives and natural environments;
4.Literary/Scientific Narrative and Devices:different ways of interweaving
scientific theories / principles with literary narratives, and blending the
actual with the imaginary,
5. Other Variations on Cyber, Virtual & Bio Literature
Publication Plan: selected papers will be published in The PostHumanities
(The New Korean Association of English and Literature,2003)or in other ways

Time frame for each paper: presentation for 40 minutes, followed by
discussion for 20 minutes.
NB:other conference details will be announced shortly.

c.v. by January 15, 2003 to:
