First International Congress Sade/USA

Charleston, South Carolina, March 12-15, 2003

Panel Title: “Sade/Salo”

Papers welcome, in either English or French, addressing the relationship
between de Sade and Pasolini's film "Salo: 120 Days of Sodom."

Papers approaching any English-language representations of the relationship
are also invited.

Conference Information:

The Colloque International Sade will be the first international congress
dedicated to the life and works of Donatien, Aldonse, François, Marquis de
Sade in the United States. The conference will address all aspects of
Sade's works/life/correspondence. The plenary speakers of the congress will
be Joan De Jean, (University of Pennsylvania), Michel Delon, (Université de
la Sorbonne-Paris IV), and Marcel Hénaff, (University of California at San
Diego). Entertainment : Performance of Yukio Mishima's *Madame de Sade*.

Papers should not exceed 20 minutes reading time. A selection of the best
papers will be published by the Editions L'Harmattan in Paris. Interested
participants should provide a copy of their presentation by the time of the
Congress, with a French translation for those papers read in English.
