Mester Call for Papers - 2003 General Issue
Mester, the yearly graduate student academic journal of the
Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCLA, seeks articles for its
general issue to be published in June 2003. Mester publishes critical
articles, interviews, and book reviews in the fields of Spanish,
Portuguese, Spanish-American, Brazilian and Chicano literatures and
linguistics. Mester also welcomes articles in Comparative Literature,
Critical Theory and Cultural Studies. Articles may be written in
Spanish, Portuguese, or English. The journal is indexed in the MLA
International Bibliography of Books and Articles on the Modern
Languages and Literatures.
Our upcoming volume will be a general one open to any topic related
to the scope of the journal. Publication decisions are based solely
on the quality of the submissions which undergo triple-blind review.
Mester is dedicated to publish work that demonstrates a high level of
scholarship, and since 1970 we have built a reputation as one of the
best student-run journals in North America, publishing articles by
established scholars alongside the best work of graduate students.
To be considered for publication, manuscripts should follow the MLA
guidelines. The original and three copies are required for all work.
Please do not write the author's name on manuscripts but include it
in a cover letter. Submissions that are being considered by another
journal or any other publisher are not accepted. The original of
rejected articles will be returned upon request if sufficient loose
postage is provided. The due date is February 1, 2003, but early
submissions are encouraged. Send all requisite materials to: Mester,
Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese, UCLA, 5310 Rolfe Hall, Los Angeles,
CA 90095-1532. Damian Bacich, editor-in-chief, mester@ucla.edu
