The PhD and its Supervision
A special issue of Working Papers on the Web on postgraduate supervision and
research training in English
Volume 8 of the online journal Working Papers on the Web
(http://www.shu.ac.uk/wpw/), appearing in April 2004, will be a special issue
on postgraduate supervision and research training in English (and, where
appropriate, in closely related disciplines). We are seeking contributions
which address the issues raised by postgraduate supervision and research
training, offer suitable models, and identify areas of current practice which
might be changed or developed, particularly in the light of new developments in
technology and working practices. Please send abstracts of 300-400 words to Dr
Lisa Hopkins, School of Cultural Studies, Sheffield Hallam University,
