The International Edith Wharton Society will hold its 2003 conference on
the campus of Southlands College, University of Surrey at Roehampton,
from 14 through 17 July 2003. Hermione Lee will deliver a keynote talk.
Janet Beer and Avril Horner will discuss Edith Wharton and Humor. One
more plenary session will be announced in the coming month. A full
complement of concurrent sessions and ample time for exploration of
Edith Wharton's London associations will round out what promises to be
an exciting conference.
At this time, the Society issues its final call for proposals, due 10

the conference proposal form. Alternatively, proposals may be faxed to
