"Slackers"

I am seeking abstracts dealing with the twenty-to-thirtysomething
"slacker" in contemporary fiction, film, and/or other media, for a
proposed panel in the inaugural Cultural Studies Association conference,
June 5-8, 2003, Pittsburgh, PA. Abstracts might consider some of the
following topics:

+ apathy
+ irony
+ slacker drugs
+ work ethic/laziness
+ Gen X-er novelists/poets/filmmakers
+ self-love/self-loathing
+ expatriate slackers
+ queer slackers
+ slackers in love
+ the overly-educated slacker
+ boomer antipathy
+ 1970s nostalgia
+ pop culture obsessions
+ "required reading" (slacker fiction/ film/ philosophical preferences)

Or, abstracts could go in completely different directions. Whatever. Send
250-word abstracts and CV via email attachment only to
lfluet@holycross.edu, by January 25, 2003.
