Blood, Sweat and Tears: Representation and Struggle in the 1930s

        “In the destructive element immerse. That is the way.”

Papers are solicited for McGill University's 9th Annual International Graduate
Symposium on Language and Literature, to be held on March 22-23, 2003.

This panel will investigate representations of struggle, and the struggle to
represent, in the 1930s. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to,
the following:

- writers and manifestos
- masses, crowds, riots
- blood and revolution
- culture and conflict
- crisis literature
- literature and politics
- literature and class
- literature and race
- literature and gender
- the artist and society
- literature and technology

Please send one-page abstracts (maximum) in the body of your email to Robin
