"The Campus Novel and Student Life"
In line with the general theme for this year's MMLA conference, "The
University," I am accepting abstracts for a special session on the
campus novel. Possible topics include:
* Reassessing the "classic campus novel" (Stover at Yale, This Side of Paradise, The Plastic Age)
* The contemporary campus novel (Joe College, The Cheese Monkeys, Moo, The Secret History)
* The graduate student campus novel (Cantor's Dilemma, Possession, The Biographer's Tale)
* The undergraduate memoir
* The university in non-academic novels
* The campus novel and the "idea of a university"
* "Scenes of Instruction" in the campus novel
* Historicizing the campus novel
* Student types in the campus novel
