The Film section of the Midwest Modern Language Association invites
proposals for the 45th Annual Meeting of the MMLA, November 7-9, 2003 in
Chicago, Illinois.

Film II: ?Hollywood, Music, and Mythology?

Defining ?popular? in the broadest possible sense?including hip-hop, rock,
jazz, country, and/or the blues?how does Hollywood represent the mythology
of popular music on film? Possible topics might include (but are not
limited to) music historiography and Hollywood, film narratives of
fictional musicians, or biopics of mythological figures such as Patsy
Cline, The Beatles, and Charlie Parker.

Please send a one-page abstract (no papers, please), as well as complete
contact information (name, university affiliation, address, phone, and
e-mail) to the session Chair:
