Call For Papers: “Shakespeare in Film” (deadline:
2/14/03; conference dates: April 11-12, 2003)

This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be
held at “(Dis)Junctions: Morphing the Written Word”,
the University of California Riverside’s 10th Annual
Graduate Humanities Conference.

Contributors are invited to submit papers on any
aspect relating to the representation and
re-imagination of Shakespeare and Shakespearean plays
in modern film. Possible topics may include (but
certainly are not limited to):

--Comparisons between different film versions of the
same play.
--The process of transmitting the written word into
the visual performance.
--Connecting to a modern audience.
--Editing, revising, re-ordering, and re-imagining.
--A “close reading” of a film.

Abstracts of approximately 250 words may be emailed to
erickaallen_at_yahoo.com by February 14, 2003 (text in
the body of the message, no attachments please). If
