"Chicks Rock: Women in the Face of Rock and Roll"
Once again, the Midwest Women's Caucus of the Modern Language
Association will be hosting sessions on "Women in Rock." Join us to
discuss women in the contemporary rock scene as we continue the
rollicking tradition of celebrating women's roles in music. How are
women changing culture through popular music? We have divas and
folksingers, bubble gum girls and activists. The caucus seeks papers
that explore the influences-positive and negative-women and their rock
music have had on culture, gender stereotypes, women's opportunities and
challenges in the business, and other aspects of music making. Papers
invited from all disciplines and paradigms.
The 45th annual meeting of the Midwest Modern Language Association will
take place on November 7th to 9th in Chicago, Illinois.
