U.S. Latina/o Literature and the Language of Violence as Critical Discourse
This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at “(Dis)Junctions:
Morphing the Written Word” at the University of California Riverside’s 10th
Annual Humanities Conference on April 11-12, 2003.
Contributors are invited to submit papers on any aspect of U.S. Latina/o
fiction, autobiography, poetry, and theater including (but not limited to)
the following questions:
-Is the language of violence in U.S. Latina/o literature a method of
socio-political critical discourse?
-Is violence in U.S. Latina/o literature a performance of masculine or
feminine gender roles?
-In what ways does investigating the language of violence in U.S. Latina/o
literature open new avenues of contemporary literary theory?
One page abstracts of 250 words should be emailed to
disjunctionspanels_at_hotmail.com by February 14, 2003. Text should be
included in the body of the email; please no attachments. For more
