CFP: Elizabeth I and Her Afterlife (3/31/03; SAMLA, 11/14/03-11/16/03)

The English II section (1500-1600) of the South Atlantic Modern
Language Association is soliciting abstracts or finished papers on
the topic "Elizabeth I and Her Afterlife," for this fall's meeting in
Atlanta (November 14-16, 2003).
We encourage a broad approach to our topic. Possible subjects include
analyses of the queen in popular culture, Elizabeth and 19th-century
imperialism, the 1951 Festival of Britain as a celebration of a new
Elizabethan age, portraits, film portrayals, various political
appropriations, Elizabeth and feminism in any period, Jacobean
representations, and more.
