The Colonial Encounter in the Metropole
This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at "(Dis)junctions:
Morphing the Written Word," the University of California's 10th Annual
Humanities Conference. It will take place April 11-12, 2003. For more

This panel seeks proposals for 20-minute papers that look at Victorian
Britain itself as the site of colonial encounter. What are the effects of
the presence of the colonial other in the metropole? How does the colonial
subject challenge the imperial power relations?
