CALL FOR PAPERS for a session on "Free Speech and Sexuality in the
Classroom" scheduled for the December 27-30, 2003, Modern Language
Association convention in San Diego.
Sponsored by the MLA's Ad Hoc Committee on Diversity and Tolerance, the
session is designed to explore the parameters and/or limits of free
expression, either verbally or in writing, on matters of sexuality by
students and/or instructors of any sexual orientation who are taking or
teaching classes devoted to the study of any modern literature or
language. Accepted papers for the session will be no more than 15 minutes
in length. Send proposals of no more than 250 words to William L. Andrews,
Department of English, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 27599-
3520 or to wandrews_at_unc.edu. March 15, 2003, deadline for receipt of
proposals.
