The Popular Culture division of SAMLA invites papers or proposals on

Atlanta, GA, Mariott Marquis Hotel.

Deadline 3/30/03
Playing with the idea of "Stranger," as well as concepts of the "House,"
this session will explore possibilities of Southern invasion, either
literal or figurative, in the home. Both the "Stranger" and the "House"
might be real, fictional, even metaphorical: a comic mouse in the attic, a
sobering disease in the family, or even a grotesque voice in the
mind. Invasions might refer to burglaries, hauntings, second wives, or
even the return of a long lost relative.
Submissions should be eight to ten (8-10) typed pages with an anticipated
reading time of fifteen to twenty minutes. Please submit as an e-mail
attachment (in Microsoft Word for Windows or WordPerfect 6.0 and up) one
copy of the completed paper or a two-three page abstract to
lpaige_at_gasou.edu. Send additionally a hard copy of all materials,
including Personal Contact Information, address, phone, and e-mail to the
session Chair:
