A CFP for a special session proposal for the Modern Language Association
annual conference to be held in San Diego (Dec. 2003).

Special Session: "Moving Performances: Women and Modernity"

Proposals welcome on women of the popular stage, dancers, film stars,
world's fair and vaudeville performers, or modernist tropes such as la
flaneuse, the vamp, la femme fatale, and other "women in
motion." Trans-Atlantic or transnational approaches encouraged as well as
critical approaches to gender, race, and performativity.
