A STATEMENT OF OFFICIAL POLICY REGARDING MULTIPLE PARTICIPATION
BY INDIVIDUALS AT THE CENTRAL NEW YORK CONFERENCE ON
LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
POLICY: To allow as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in the conference, an individual participant may Chair only one session AND/OR present only one paper annually.
Application to present papers at various sessions is acceptable. However, if more than one paper is accepted it is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the relevant Chair(s) that the applicant is withdrawing from that or those sessions. Such notification should take place immediately after the applicant is informed that his or her papers have been accepted for presentation at more than one session.
SPECIAL SITUATIONS: Someone who has withdrawn from one or more sessions in accordance with the above instructions may appear in a second session if requested by the conference director to do so because a session is not full. Sometimes Chairs are needed on an emergency basis, which may
necessitate a person chairing more than one session.
Other reasons for exceptions to this policy exist. Applications for
exceptions can be made by Chairs or participants; such applications
should be made to the conference director in writing or by telephone,
with a full rationale for the exception being considered.
Queries should be addressed to Conference Director, Emmanuel S. Nelson, Department of English,SUNY Cortland, Cortland, New York 13045. E-mail: nelsone_at_cortland.edu <mailto:nelsone_at_cortland.edu>
