13th Annual Central New York Conference on Language and Literature
(CNYCLL) at Cortland College of the State University of New York
October 26-28, 2003.
I am looking for papers for the following two queer studies panels
offered at CNYLL this year.
Panel #1: “Queer In/Visibility: Theory, Narrative, and Critique”
For this panel, I am particularly interested in papers that
problematize the place of “visibility” and “invisibility”
within
current enactments of queer theory, pedagogy, and/or the
(self)representational. Although other approaches are certainly
viable, one might (re)consider:
-the utility and function of coming-out, autobiography, or other
self-representational narratives
-racial, gender, or class-based in/visibilities and their embeddedness
with sexuality
-the in/visibility of dis/ability, or how “crip theory” meets
queer theory
-the exclusions of a politics of inclusion
-”passing”
-porno
-visibility in the academy, such as that offered by Gay and Lesbian
Studies or Sexuality Studies curricula
-Foucaldian theories of confession vs. glbt visibility politics
Panel #2: “Literature and Gay/Lesbian Sexualities”
Open topic, but papers that (re)present disidentificatory relations to
“lesbian” and/or “gay” might be especially well received.
