CFP: War Propaganda
Popular Culture/American Culture Association in the South
Conference
Jacksonville, Florida October 2-4, 2003
Deadline: May 12, 2003
Proposals are sought for a session on the propaganda of modern war.
Participants are asked to make brief (20-minute) presentations on the
various ways in which painters, sculptors, poster artists, filmmakers,
composers, and writers, from the Great War to the invasion of Iraq, have
demonized the enemy, energized the patriot, and mezmerized the potential
recruit. Please send abstracts (100-150 words) by May 12, 2003, to Prof.
William Badgett, Department of English and Fine Arts, Virginia Military
Institute, Lexington, Virginia 24450 or e-mail them to badgettwd@vmi.edu.
