INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Le rythme / Rhythm

The conference raises the question of rhythm in literature. Is it a
component we cannot afford not to take into consideration when we study a
literary text? In other words, is it a necessary part of literary
communication? Does it contribute in its own specific way to the production
of meaning? We propose that rhythm is not solely a problem of meter and
furthermore that it concerns prose as well as poetry. Both theoretical
considerations and practical analyses of texts belonging to literature
written in English are welcome.
