"Women in Rural Communities: Maintaining Activism,
Cultivating New Experiences, Advancing Scholarship"
MAWSA 2004 welcomes proposals in the form of papers, panels,
and workshops in all areas related to women's studies teaching, research,
and practice inside and outside the classroom. We are focusing next year's
conference on the lived experiences of rural women. We encourage proposals
that include student voices.
Topics can include, but are not limited to:
2004 politics and women
Public policy issues affecting rural women
Religious communities and female spirituality
Developing leadership opportunities
International issues-e.g. migration, tourism, colonialism
Health issues and empowerment
Connections between rural and urban women
Multiculturalism and diversity
Institutional commitments and program funding
Rural women, global perspectives
Community partnerships, activism, experiential learning,
service learning
Proposals should include:
