Call for Papers: 2004 SCMS in March
The Color of Money: The Business of Film
"Most people who study film still don't recognize the centrality of
money." -- David Bordwell. While traditional film studies recognized the
hegemonic structure of capital and its relation to film practice, such
links remained relatively abstract in analysis. This panel seeks detailed
explorations of the institutional economic apparatuses behind film
practices---from deal-making, to corporate structures, to film financing.
