CALL FOR PAPERS
VICTORIAN MODERNITIES
University of Reading, UK, Saturday 1 May 2004
This conference seeks to explore the modernity of the Victorians, =
tracing the emergence of twentieth- and twenty-first century =
sensibilities through the literature and culture of the nineteenth =
century. All relevant topics will be considered but we particularly wish =
to encourage papers on the following:
Science, technology and medicine; innovations in form and genre; nation =
and empire; sexuality and gender; popular culture and consumption; =
contemporary representations of the Victorians.
Interdisciplinary papers will be welcomed.
Please send abstracts of approximately 300 words by 1 November 2003 to =
