Open Session: New Directions in Research on Asceticism
39th International Congress on Medieval Studies at
Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo)
May 6-9, 2004
I welcome abstracts on all subjects concerning new ways to approach the
study of medieval ascetic practices. Such topics may include, but are
certainly not limited to, new readings of ascetic literature, innovative
historical research on asceticism, or applications of theory to texts
concerning medieval ascetics.
Papers should be of a length that requires no more than a twenty-minute
reading time. The Congress stipulates that no one who delivers a paper in
this session may deliver a paper at another conference session in the same
year.
Please submit your abstract to the address below, preferably via e-mail,
either in the body of the e-mail or attached in a Microsoft Word file. Be
sure to include your e-mail address, phone number, and request for any
audio-visual equipment that your paper requires. Abstracts should be
limited to 500 words and should arrive no later than September 15, 2003.
Thank you,
