Call for Papers
Conference: "Black Feminisms"

Location: The Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, Concourse Level
"Black Feminisms" is an all-day conference organized by The Africana
Studies Group of the Graduate Center of the City University of New
York (CUNY). What is black feminism? What is its significance, and
relevance, for the new millennium? We are currently seeking
abstracts (300 words or less) that address these questions, as well
as papers on various topics related to the field of black feminism in
the US and abroad. You are welcome to submit individual papers
and/or organize a panel on a particular topic. Topics include, but
are not limited to, the following:

ß Eugenics
ß Fashion
ß Feminism and Popular Studies
ß Film and Theatre
ß Food
ß Health
ß Labour
ß Literature
ß Men and Feminism
ß Music
ß "Post" Black Feminism
ß Postcolonial Feminism
ß Prisons
ß Queer Studies
ß Reproductive Politics
ß Theory/Practice
ß Transnational Feminism
ß U.S. Third World Feminism
ß Visual Arts
ß Whites and Black Feminism
ß Youth
There will also be a panel for CUNY undergraduates. We encourage
submissions from inside, and outside of, the academy. There is no
cost for submission or acceptance. Each panelist will be given
approximately 20 minutes to speak.
Please submit abstracts no later than Wednesday, October 15, 2003.
Notification of acceptance will be November 15, 2003.
